Societal Benefits

The forest sector provides economic health and benefits to society. The forest industry is a source of wealth, it is a major source of employment and tax revenue in Washington state, and with sustainable management it promotes the ecosystem services that stem from healthy forests.

The Forest Technology Alliance focuses on collaboration within the School of Forest Resources (SFR) to improve research and solve complicated problems. The opportunity to increase collaboration throughout the College of the Environment is sure to further increase the breadth and quality of research possibilities. The current SFR programs participating in the Forest Technology Alliance include:

Center for International Trade in Forest Products (CINTRAFOR)
Consortium for Research on Renewable Industrial Materials (CORRIM)
Precision Forestry Cooperative (PFC)
Stand Management Cooperative (SMC)
Rural Technology Initiative (RTI)
